Greed is a dangerous thing, but we are good friends with danger, are we not?

~ The Narrator, when entering a Treasury mission.

The Treasury is one of the Regions found in The Valley. It was previously used as storage for all of the Kvarotz Empire's many valauables, though became infested with eldritch flora and fauna after the Empire fell. From the seed banks section of the Treasury were the rare seeds, which, imbued with eldritch powers, grew into the Cactonids. The Cactonids, now denizens of this place, quickly adapted to the local environs, transforming into mimics that appear almost everywhere within. Be warned, nearly everything in this region is a Cactonid. There are little normal encounters in the Treasury, but such sinister mockeries of nature do not attack unless disturbed, allowing the player to safely traverse through hallways (mostly) without a scratch.

This region is your primary source of Salvaged Jewelry.

Fighting

Cactonids meld into the treasures of the Kvarotz, consuming valuables, making them lucrative targets. Fights with Cactonids must be initiated by the player itself. All other battles usually consist of roaming wildlife and other shared factions. This is a trait unique to this dungeon, being that the player themself must decide on the value they want to get out of their expedition. If the player wishes, they can skip all of the Cactonid battles, engage in scuffles with roaming factions and wildlife, complete the objectives and return to The Flameseeker.

Curios

Cactonid fights must be summoned by interacting with curios or traps.

Interactions with Cactonid curios can vary in at least three possible ways:

  1. They can interact by hand and engage in a normal fight, getting average loot afterwards.
  2. They can use a specific item to apply a battle-long debuff or buff to the opposing party.
  3. They can use an Alum Censer on it to make the summoned Cactonid Maligned.

Each curio only summons 1 cactonid which will then Provoke the Grove to start the fight properly. This also applies to the Cactonid Supterpath trap.

Maligned Cactonids

Maligned Cactonids have no buffs, instead they heavily debuff your party's healing and stress recovery capabilities as long as they are alive. This can be seen as a hard-mode to Catconid battles, a higher risk with a higher reward.

Malignant Vestiges

Malignant Vestiges are extremely valuable Effect Loot primarily obtained through battles with Maligned Cactonids, rarely obtained from standard Cactonids, or the Essence of Malignity contraband. However, while they are in your inventory, the vestiges will apply party-wide, non stacking, passive negative effects. They, and gems, have their stacking size increased by 1 if the Jeweler's Shoppe Side Deck has been constructed.
