The Greater Sandwurm is a Troglodyte/Beast enemy and is a Boss encountered on the sands outside of the Caverns.

A primordial behemoth skulks under ruinous dunes, so immeasurably colossal it cannot be taken down by mere blades and fletched bolts. The father of all Sandwurms, this goliath, whose physical form borders on the brink of imponderabilia, will be one of your hardest challenges yet.

Behavior

The Greater Sandwurm is a boss that can be fought only once during the quest The Desert Leviathan. The fight is under the effects of Debilitating Daylight.

It will always start with The Maw Opens. If it is the only enemy alive, it will use it again.

Killing the Wurm Tongue will cause the Greater Wurm to use OPEN FIRE! on itself where the Flameseeker fires its broadside cannons at the Wurm dealing 500 DMG with a possibility of up to 35 extra damage. This is the main gimmick of the fight, killing the tongue is the only practical way to defeat this boss.

Otherwise it will use one of three attacks:

• Earthcrash Incredible damage and stun chance can easily put Heroes to deaths door without support when combined with DoT effects or being partly damaged.
• Colossus Scream High party wide Stress.
• Acidic Monsoon Party wide low damage but high chance for a moderate blight.

All attacks have a 1 turn cooldown. Killing the Tongue makes the Wurm use 2 actions on getting shot and respawning it.

Strategy

The fight revolves around tanking and recovering from the Wurm and Tongue's insane combined damage output, while also killing the Tongue as quickly as possible. Its best to kill the Tongue on the same turn its spawned to avoid prolonging the fight.

Trophy

After completing the Greater Sandwurn's quest, it will drop a sword and a cloak as the Reliquary's Spoils.
