The Steelpath Matron is a Wildlander/Human enemy and a Boss encountered in the Exposed Interior.

Helm: The Steelpath

This matron has forever walked down a road with no destination. She seeks the truth of a question with no answer. Her path is traced across the land by heaps of mangled and bloodlet corpses. In her dying moments, she will understand the riddle imparted to her by the gods...
~ The Captain

Behavior

The Steelpath Matron will use Cackling Pack on the Prep icon.png Prep Round.

Normal Mode

Cackling Pack summons 3 Wildlander Steelhound enemies pushing her into rank 4. It has a 6 turn cooldown.

Hyena Food applies Poptext tagged.png Mark, Poptext debuff.png Debuffs DODGE and Poptext bleed.png Bleed Resistance and target is marked as Prey (See section below for details).

Dissever does moderate damage and applies a weak but guaranteed Poptext bleed.png Bleed. Will always target Heroes with the Prey ActorDot if possible.

Bloodlust does moderate damage with 10% extra against Poptext bleed.png Bleeding. She Enters Bloodlust, moves Push forward.png Forward by 3 and gains a Poptext buff.png Buff to PROT and Armour Piercing which lasts until mode end. It has a 8 turn cooldown. Can be used if a Hero is Poptext bleed.png Bleeding.

Bloodlust

Lasts for 5 turns. On turn 6 Breather is used.

Sever does high damage and a strong Poptext bleed.png Bleed.

Skyward Cleave does high damage, a strong Poptext bleed.png Bleed and pushes Pull back.png Back by 2.

Maelstrom does moderate damage, a moderate Poptext bleed.png Bleed and targets all front Heroes. It has a 1 turn cooldown.

Breather she exits Bloodlust and gets a Poptext debuff.png Debuff to DODGE and SPD.

Prey

Prey visual effect

Mark steel.png Prey is an ActorDot status effect given by Hyena Food it triggers upon friendly skill use.

On Trigger:

  • Bleed Self: 6 pts/ 3tns (160% base)
  • Buff Enemies: +10% DMG (3rds)

Strategy

The Steelpath Matron has Strong Debuffs and Bleed, as well as high resistances to everything except for Blight, Debuffs, and Movement all combined with High speed. Despite her high Debuff resist her three actions per round make Debuffs fall off too quickly, although Amberblight, Mark, and Expiate still work well on her and Blight is effective in reducing her relatively small health pool. Since her Hyena Food Mark makes it so friendly skills buff her damage relying on characters like the Vestal or a backline Jester isn't recommended as combined with the Marks the Hyenas will quickly out damage and kill your party, as such it's recommended you take an aggressive approach and quickly cleave through them, although it's worth noting the Hyenas most dangerous attack only has an accuracy of 105 so a high dodge team can do good as well.

Team Selection

Recommended

  • Leper - Leper can easily 'Hew' through the front ranks of Hyena can both buffing his damage and accuracy using Revenge and is an effective tank when using withstand to buff his resistances and protection. Although the Matron has a Push skill, she doesn't have a pull or a shuffle: Leper even without equipping any movement resist trinkets can reach 140% or higher movement resistance using either his camp skill Bloody Shroud or the previously mentioned Withstand. Her only downside is the lack of movement resistance when compared to the Leper.
  • Hellion - Fast, Good damage, decently high health, high crit chance, can attack all ranks, has decently high bleed resistance, and benefits from having respawing chaff enemies to feed herself with.
  • Veiled - Immune to Bleed, high speed, doesn't mind being at low health and has a good full party heal when at death's door.
